Professional Biography

Paul has over 18 years experience in commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on providing advice and related services in the corporate and personal insolvency areas.

Paul’s practice has spanned all jurisdictions from VCAT, the Magistrates’ Court through to the Victorian Supreme and Federal Courts.
Paul’s expertise in corporate and personal insolvency has seen him act for several insolvency practitioners in Australia, as well as for government departments and statutory authorities, including the Australian Taxation Office. Paul’s clients include mid-tier accounting practices, private and small cap public companies and high net worth individuals.

Paul has been involved in numerous litigation matters, including proceedings against the ANZ Bank arising out of the Opes Prime collapse and also proceedings against Chimaera Capital on behalf of an investor client. Aside from his insolvency practice, Paul has extensive experience in partnership and shareholders disputes, advice to clients about corporate structures, franchise disputes and contract matters. Paul has advised and acted on behalf of clients facing ASIC investigation and prosecution. Paul has also successfully acted for a private client involved in the ASADA proceeding against the Essendon Football Club.

As a litigator, Paul understands that clients are interested in outcomes as opposed to the litigation process. At all times, Paul strives to provide commercial and strategic advice to clients to maximise their potential for achieving the desired outcome, at the lowest possible legal cost.
